One command adds Zaprep to Codex. It can then create, check and export your Instagram and Facebook automations from the CLI, the IDE extension or the Codex app.
Which of my automations have not triggered in 14 days? Pause them and tell me what you paused.
✓ list_automations✓ get_automation_activity✓ toggle_automationChecked 11 automations across 2 accounts.
Paused 3 that had no runs in 14 days: "Old SALE", "Black Friday" and "Test rule". The other 8 are active and firing.

Coding agent setup
Codex CLI, the Codex IDE extension or the Codex app. They share the same config file.
Zaprep MCP server URL
https://www.zaprep.com/api/mcpRun the first command below, or add the block to ~/.codex/config.toml yourself.
Run codex mcp login zaprep. Your browser opens Zaprep so you can approve access.
Open Settings, then MCP servers, then Add server. Choose Streamable HTTP, paste the URL and sign in when asked.
Create a key under Settings, then API keys in Zaprep and point bearer_token_env_var at it, as in the second block.
codex mcp add zaprep --url https://www.zaprep.com/api/mcp
codex mcp login zaprep
# headless / CI alternative, in ~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.zaprep]
url = "https://www.zaprep.com/api/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "ZAPREP_API_KEY"Need an API key? Create one in Zaprep. Official Codex docs: Codex MCP docs.
Try these
Copy a prompt, paste it into Codex, and adjust the keyword or link.
“Pause every automation that has not fired in 30 days.”
“Write a markdown report of DMs sent per automation this month.”
“Create the same three keyword automations on my new client account, paused so I can check them.”
“Show me the latest comments on my top post that did not get a reply.”
“Arm a LINK automation for the next reel I post on @brand.main.”
“How many contacts have I messaged this month, and what is my plan limit?”
40+ tools
Everything you do in the Zaprep dashboard, except billing, is available as an MCP tool.

Sign-in
Codex supports both. OAuth is quicker on your own machine.
| OAuth Codex | API key Codex | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Paste the URL, sign in to Zaprep | Create a key in Settings, then API keys |
| Best for | Chat apps and editors on your own machine | CLIs, CI, servers and workflow tools |
| Credentials stored | Short-lived tokens, refreshed automatically | One zap_ key you keep secret |
| Revoke | Disconnect it in Settings, then AI tools | Delete it in Settings, then API keys |
Limits
Channels
One connection covers every account in your Zaprep workspace.
Same server
One MCP URL, any client that speaks the Model Context Protocol.
Using something else? See the general MCP setup.
No. ChatGPT is the chat app and connects Zaprep as a custom connector. Codex is OpenAI’s coding agent and reads MCP servers from config.toml. Same Zaprep server, different setup. See the ChatGPT page for the chat setup.
Use OAuth (codex mcp login zaprep) on your own machine. Use an API key for CI or anywhere a browser cannot open. Codex reads the key from the environment variable you name, so it never sits in the config file.
With OAuth, run codex mcp login zaprep again. With a key, check that ZAPREP_API_KEY is set in the shell that launched Codex (echo $ZAPREP_API_KEY), then restart Codex.
Yes. Zaprep runs its own remote MCP server at https://www.zaprep.com/api/mcp. No Zapier or other middleman is involved.
Yes. MCP access is included on every Zaprep plan, Free included. Your plan’s usual limits on automations and DMs still apply.
To run automations, yes: connect an Instagram professional account or a Facebook Page in Zaprep first. Without one the AI can only read your Zaprep settings.
Instagram professional accounts and Facebook Pages today. TikTok and YouTube are coming next.
New automations an AI creates are saved paused, so nothing sends until you or the AI turns it on after you confirm. Edits to an automation that is already on apply right away, and most AI apps ask before running a change. You can disconnect any AI app in Zaprep under Settings, then AI tools.
Yes. Once connected, the AI can list and export the contacts your automations collected, including emails. Only connect AI apps you trust, and disconnect any you stop using.
Open Settings, then AI tools in Zaprep and choose Disconnect next to the app. It is signed out right away. For an API key, delete it under Settings, then API keys.
Last updated . Menu names in other apps change often; the official docs link above has the latest.
Free plan, no card. Connect Instagram or a Facebook Page, then add Zaprep to your AI tool.
